Hi Drob, Thanks for keeping Vander in memory, we were riding for SKYWAY at the same time but in Europe at the time. Vander wanted to come over to our home (The Netherlands) just before he died so I never saw him in real life. I stayed at his parents house in San Leandro a couple of times and discovered that they speak DUTCH! We have to thank VANDER for everything he did for our sport and remember that good things can change quickly. Paul de Jong The Netherlands

Awesome site Maurice (Drob)! This should be a movie/documentry. Love those pics! brings back the memories of those days. Just riding for fun! Hanging with the boys! Soul riding! I remember some of those photos of Dave in the Mags back in the day. Didn't know that you were part of the Curb dogs. Its stuff like this that will help make a mark for 70's / 80's bmx racing and freestyle live on. The way it was when we were growing up. A great tribute to Vander and the bmx freestyle seen.

Drob, While out to Cali for the first time in '85 I got to see the man himself...Vander!! He went nuts at the Venice comp and have the same shot of Dave and Christian Hosoi from ground level. I will never forget that awesome day and was totally into the Curb Dog vibe! I was one of those judges at that contest and Dave was right, who cares about the judges...it's what you do for the audience. In '87 I was at the Pipeline and Dave was there. He was practicing these HUGE flyout airs, like 10ft!! I was amazed by his talents and hung out and talked with him. He was a "cloon" and really liked that about him. Thanks for the awesome website in tribute to the one and only "Vander" Peace, Jeff Tollefson

This is great... The fact that he was Pro but never acted like a pro was stoke. I have an old Pipeline Skatepark video. And at the end of his run he was tired and was trying to get back up to the top of the bowl. He kind of slipped, then he just layed down and slide to the bottom, and just layed there..Classic...

Drob, It's awesome that you are still into the scene and commemorating a rider that did a lot to change the direction that freestyle was headed from day one. I remember watching Vander in Golden Gate Park do a quick wall ride on a bus as it was trying to pull away from the scene and I remember the mourning from all when he had died. We've come a long way, but we should never forget. ~P~

Drob, ol' be with it within the ol' skool. hey. It's all about that long bleach blonde bangs and rocking sllip on vans and doing surfers and acid drops with a skateboard. Hell Yeah. I have a few funny ones like when Raybo and I would call Craig Grasso up and tell him were at the Spot . Meanwhile were chillin in the Ac at Raybo's house in King Of Prussia. LOL. Well get there. By all means Necessary. And Respect for heading East to hit it up and Rampin up the Jawn with us. I'll see you at the Meet the street Jam. or at the reunion. Keep an eye out for curb dog ish I sent you in the mail.....Jim D out
